Sunday is Run Day
Posted by Jamie on October 22, 2007 8:41 AM
Hundreds of people put aside the sporting upset of Saturday night to show up in Victoria Park yesterday morning (Sunday) for the Southport Visiter Charity Fun Run and the 10k organised by Natterjack Running Centre on Eastbank Street.

Well, it was by no means the 36-0 drubbing of five weeks previously, so Jonny and the boys can hold their collective heads up high as their winged chariot carries them back across the channel.
I do have a sneaky suspicion that the video ref who took an eternity to disallow the English try had a bet on the Springboks though...
England Expects (Again)

LESS than two weeks ago, a French pal of mine gleefully bounded across a crowded dancefloor to tell me the result of his homeland's Rugby World Cup quarter final, and that my compatriots would be playing his in the semi. It was obvious what he thought the result would be.
I texted him after Saturday's game, and strangely enough, I'm still awaiting a reply.
Let's hope the footballing England's result in Moscow isn't mirrored at the Stade De France this weekend.

There are two famous women I have always wanted to interview. One is Joan Rivers, the other is Liverpool actress Elisabeth Sladen, who is enjoying a career renaissance on the back of the revived Doctor Who franchise.
The lady whose age I am too much of a gentleman to reveal (and you wouldn't believe me anyway) now stars in The Sarah Jane Adventures on Children's BBC every Monday afternoon at 5pm.

As one of the very first Spare Times entries suggests, I've always had a soft spot for the Eurovision Song Contest.
And when I say 'soft spot', I don't mean I think of it as a pile of musical syrup which we should all point at and laugh every year. I genuinely believe there are some bona fide decent pop tunes among the entries.
Don't worry. I know I'm mostly alone in that notion.

One of the high spots of this ever speedier technological revolution is the chance to call up programmes we missed first time round without worrying about mis-setting the video.
This latest tellybox wonder allowed to me to catch up with the two new shows which prop up BBC2's brand new Thursday night line-up, The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle and The Peter Serafinowicz Show.
This page contains an archive of all entries posted to Spare Times in the October 2007. They are listed from oldest to newest.
September 2007 is the previous archive.November 2007 is the next archive.
